Monticello Trails Middle School launches new logo designed by CTEC CAPS student

Monticello Trails Middle School has introduced an updated school logo, just in time for the new school year. Ayriana Blakney, a De Soto High School student who graduated in May 2023, created the logo re-design for MTMS during the 2022-23 school year.

Ayriana began with a series of pencil sketches that she shared with Principal, Jennifer Smith, and a group of MTMS students. The team collaborated to refine the logo, as well as the specific colors and font included in the design. Once the final sketch was selected, Ayriana began the finishing step of constructing the electronic version of the new MTMS logo.

Ayriana was an inaugural member of the Design classes when the Cedar Trails Exploration Center (CTEC) opened in 2021. She was enrolled in the Graphic Design Workplace Experience course when she created the new logo for MTMS. This exclusive opportunity to work with the principal and the student leadership team at MTMS is an excellent example of a client-connected project within the CAPS program at CTEC.

After graduation, Ayriana planned to start her degree in graphic design at Johnson County Community College (JCCC), later transferring to Pittsburg State to obtain her full credentials.
